ILYON AND ACKTAR’S BLOG TOUR: 3 Book Review, Giveaway and LOTS of fun!

Today I get to share about the wonderful, amazing, super cool blog tour and my reviews of 3 new books in my favorite fantasy series!!!
About Bitter Winter:
Already struggling with a harsh winter and the threat of food shortage, a catastrophic event leaves those in the Landale camps reeling. Just when things couldn’t get much worse, camp members fall ill with the same devastating sickness that’s sweeping across the country.

Determined to gain the cure, Jace sets off to Valcré. However, there are only two sources—the queen, or a powerful gang of smugglers who have made the dangerous city their home. When Jace gains audience with the gang leader, he finds the price of the cure is steeper than any of them imagined, forcing him to make an impossible choice—betray his conscience or let those he loves die.

My Review:

Genre: Fantasy, Christian Fantasy.

My Rating: 4 and 1/2 stars. It would have 5 stars, but the author wrote a terrible plot killer twist!

My Recommendation: 15 up because of violence, romance, and sadness!

Slight spoilers! Read with care!

My Favorite character/s: ALL OF THEM … Except, the general, (Who I hope changes, but worry won’t!) Dagren, Sir Richard, and first on the list is Devira! This is hard because there are so many awesome characters! So, let’s get started!

For this post, I’m putting my reasons for liking Michael first! I love Michael, (He shares the name of one of the main characters in my spy-thriller too!) He’s an awesome younger brother to Kyrin and older brother to Ronny, the poor boy is caught between his older siblings and younger brother.

Jace is as awesome as in the other books or rather EVEN better because he now knows he’s forgiven. There are some parts that I worried about him – making the right choices … in the end I wished that there was more to read!

Kyrin was Kyrin what more can I say! Plus I would give away spoilers if I say ANYTHING about her!

Rayed is the same as Kyrin … Sadly!

Holden was awesome to read more about! He’s like the older brother Jace has needed all his life! And the offers he makes, yikes, was it hard to read!!! Also, does anyone agree that Holden needs a girl? ‘Cause he is seriously left out!

The new and newer characters are also sadly spoiler worthy!

My Verse for Bitter Winter is Psalm 30:5
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

My Thoughts: I have been waiting for this book since the last one came out. Man, it was good! Through Bitter Winter was almost as hard to read as Half-Blood for me! The beginning was that badly good! (Bad because the author made a bad authorlike book, that writers admire and readers love but hate!) The plot was wonderful like always, (quoting my sister K … ) the characters, plot twists, and ending barely surprising and enjoyable.
Bitter Winter was an excellent continuance of the Ilyon Chronicles and I’m super eager for the next book!

(I received this book from the author in return for my honest review … And that’s what you get! All the thoughts are my own!)

I don’t know how to explain how good this book is, but you can be sure it is fantastic!

About Lacy:
The last thing Aaron ever envisioned was falling for a prostitute. Everything about it spells trouble. However, he can’t help noticing the way her smile lights up when she sees him and how much brokenness she hides behind it. Neither can he ignore how desperately she needs rescue and protection.
When Lacy shares a life or death secret with him, Aaron is willing to risk everything to help her and to show her Elôm’s love. Yet, such a choice could destroy his reputation and maybe even cost him his freedom.
An Ilyon Chronicles Novella
My Review:
Genre: Fantasy, Christian Fantasy.

My Rating: 3 stars.
My Recommendation: 16 up because of violence, romance, and Lacy’s job.
Though there is no inappropriate mention of Lacy’s job.

My Favorite character/s:
Lacy was so wounded and I wanted to help her so badly!
Aaron and Timothy were awesome to read more about and I loved seeing more about
their relationship with each other and ho
w well they know and care for each other!
Avery is very … I’m not sure how I feel about him yet!
My Verse for: John 8:11
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
(King James Verison.)

My Thoughts: I read this on a mentor’s (Faith Blum) recommendation, she said that she thought I’d
enjoy it and that it was clean. It was just the push I needed because I was thinking about it,
Jaye L. Knight has written about many hard subjects and I trust her and the books she writes.
Those were really the only two reasons I read a book with an MC (Main character)
that is a prostitute, I am now glad I did! It was sad that Lacy didn’t really have anyone to help her!

Spoiler and Warning: There is an unwed pregnancy, slight mentions of a character being a prostitute
and that she should “get rid” of her baby.

(I received this book from the author in return for my honest review … And that’s what you get! All the thoughts are my own!)

To the Far Great Mountains
A death sends Leith and Martyn far beyond the borders of Acktar. Will they be able to arrest their quarry before they are caught themselves?
From the story of how Leith and Martyn met to Ranson’s search for a life outside of the Blades, these stories will answer plaguing questions and expand the world of Acktar.

My Review:

First I should say that I’m not doing a favorite character because they are all great! I will be giving my favorite quote in each short story though!

And I’m not doing my normal novel review because these are short stories and novellas so, continue reading if you want. If not, I’m sorry, this isn’t what you followed me for, you may unfollow if you please! 😉 (Please don’t! I blog for you!)

The Blades as They Should’ve Been:

This one is my favorite of all the stories. This story was almost great then I got into it and it was more than great, it was wonderful, cool, totally awesome, and I now love Keeven even more!
I know that many people probably don’t like him too much but I like him almost as much as … Dare, I say, Leith?

Yes, yes, I do!

Want to know more? Do what you should have done at the beginning of this review and get your copy!

Rating: 5 Stars.

My favorite quote: “Perhaps it was time to settle this once and for all in the manner of brothers everywhere.” That is one part but the next part was even better! Read it to find out! 😉

Another quote: “Do you think he’ll find us here?” There is more to that … But I can’t give away spoilers, now, can I?

The First Mission:

This is another amazing story! (I’m sorry, but I’m feeling a little sassy, and not going to give more on this review! Ah, the life of a reader, writer, blogger. 😉 )

Rating: 5 Stars.

My favorite quote: “You slept on the top bunk all these years?” Someone could barely choke out the words.” If you want to know who said this and almost made me cry grab your copy!

To the Far Great Mountains:
I loved this one too, I loved them all! This one was cool t
o see how the characters grew and changed, and it made me want more of The Blades Of Acktar!

It’s hard to explain what is so wonderful about the whole collection without giving away anything, which for all three of the reviews today I’ve struggled with because these are like the best books in the world and I love them so!

My favorite quote: “Oh, and by the way. You might receive an angry visit from an ambassador from…” Sorry, no spoilers!

(I received this book from the author in return for my honest review … And that’s what you get! All the thoughts are my own!)
