Book Review: The Farmer’s Bride by Kathleen Fuller

About: Bestselling and award-winning author Kathleen Fuller returns to the Amish

The Farmer's Bride (Amish Brides of Birch Creek #2)

community of Birch Creek in this charming tale of falling in love while pursuing the dreams of your heart.

Having grown up in poverty, Seth Yoder refuses to be financially insecure again. His passion is woodcarving, but he’s vowed to work on his father’s successful farm, even though his heart is in his craft. Splitting his time between farming and his secret hobby keeps him busy—too busy for social activities.

Martha Detweiler has a different problem—she’s the only single woman in a community full of young men, and they’re all competing for her favor. All of them . . . except Seth Yoder. Overwhelmed by the unwanted attention, she finds herself constantly fleeing from them, and that isn’t the way she wants to live her life.

When Cevilla Schlabach, Birch Creek’s resident matchmaker, hears of Martha’s predicament, she believes she has the answer—convince Seth to give the impression that he and Martha are dating. Both Martha and Seth think this is a terrible idea, but Cevilla doesn’t let go of something once she gets it in her head. And when Delilah Stoll, a new resident of Birch Creek, eyes Seth as the perfect man for her granddaughter, Nina, Cevilla digs in her heels.

Can Seth and Martha convince their family and friends to leave them alone? Or will their struggles against a community that seems to have decided both their fates bring them closer together?

My Review:

Genre: Amish, romance, and a touch of comedy.

My rating: 5 stars.

My recommendation: Romance and Amish readers would love this book though since there is a good bit of romance I suggest 13 up.

My favorite character/s: This is a hard one! There are so adorable many interesting characters. I guess my favorite was Martha tied with Seth, they were so against each other till the end and I loved reading about them fighting their feelings and the matchmakers!

My verse for the story . . . is Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; (King James Version.)

My thoughts: Here I am starting my review when I am only on the 5th chapter but I had to! I love this book so far! Martha is by far the most humorous Amish woman I’ve read about. The book already has me laughing so much my sides hurt and all of the matchmakers are getting to be hilarious with how they are all pushing and pulling at the main characters. I am very picky with the Amish books I read and for me to this is surprising but this is my FAVORITE Amish book ever! The ending was so adorable and sweet! I have enjoyed a few of the author’s other works and liked them but this one topped them all! The characters were so easy to connect with, and each one was so different from the others.

Warnings: None

  1. Sounds like a super interesting read!! 😀
I’ve never read an Amish book because I’m scared of their accuracy. XD! (I know Amish, have been to Amish Mennonite churches, and other Amish things….so. XD!)

    1. It was!
I totally understand which is one reason I dislike most Amish books I read. This one was somewhat accurate. (Cool! My dad worked with the Amish a while last summer/fall.)

      1. Ah, yes! (Oh, that’s awesome!!!)
