A Writing Snippet, A Question, And What’s Your Favorite Book This Year?

Hey, there!

Since I hit 14,541 words in A Brother’s Promise I thought that I should share a few snippets! (They are too long since a lot of things will change but I hope you enjoy reading them!)

“Me eat now, pweas?” Ally peeked over the table, fingertips gripping the table top.

“Of course, Darlin’.” I pushed the seat across from me out with my foot. “What do you want first? Your apple, the chips, or sandwich?”

“Ships, pweas!” She pulled herself into her seat, sat down munching on her “ships” and giggling.

“We’re going to see Uncle Mark and Uncle Matthew this week for your birthday party. What do you think they would like to do while they are here?” I took a bite of my pear – sucking in the nectar-like juice.

“Day like park!” She looked at me shoveling another chip in her mouth.

“They’ll like the park, huh?” I smiled at the hopeful look in her eyes.

Nodding she said, “Yep, an picnics!”

“I’m pretty sure that you are the one that likes the park and picnics.” I say.

Words. Words. Words.

The bane of my existence and yet the only thing that fueled my mind . . . keeping me sane.

Ugh, why did I let this happen, again? I should be writing and yet here I am attempting to ignore the young nurse across the room in the cafe or rather what I consider my break room. She is pretty but that isn’t what has drawn me to her, what draws me to her is the kindness and love she shows everyone around her.

I lay in bed waiting for sleep to come. My arms over my eyes as I fight the feeling of anger that came every night I couldn’t sleep. I rolled over and the stack of books on the nightstand caught my eye. They were old worn books that I hadn’t touched since the day I moved into my apartment but grief hit me, every time I thought of moving them.

“A guy can’t come see my brothers . . .” I trailed off as Matthew’s car pulled into view, right behind Mark’s. “I mean, uh, broth . . . you’re gonna kill me.” I said as Matthew came into the diner. He hadn’t seen Mark yet since Mark faced me.

Laughing, Mark shook his head, “Why would I do that?”

What do you think?

Now for that question; which of my posts is your favorite? And would you prefer one review a week?

My top 5 favorite books so far this year are:

#1 is The Divided Nation by Angela R. Watts . . . OK, OK, not published yet but I beta-read this one and it is so good!

#2 is A Question of Loyalty by Jesseca Wheaton . . . This book is coming out soon and I just reviewed it this morning! It is also on a blog tour that you can find out more here!

#3 is a tie between Live Again by Sarah Grace Grzy and Live Without You by Sarah Grace Grzy, ah, these stories are so good!

#4 is More Than Words Can Say by Karen Witemeyer . . . Again, not yet published but I just finished reading my e-ARC, and I loved it even more than the first! My review is posting closer to the publish date.

#5 is Daughters of Northern Shores by Joanne Bischof, this one was wonderful and a great second book in the series!

And my honorable mention is The Sky Above Us by Sarah Sundin, which is really good and was almost in the top 5.

What are your top 5 favorite books so far this year? (That were published since the first of the year.)
