Day 7 of the First Author Tour: Author Interview and Links to Previous Posts!

Today we have an interview with the lovely Faith Potts! (This is the second time I’ve interviewed Faith if you would like to find our first interview you can go here> First Interview )

1. What is your favorite guy or girl character to write about? (Cowboy, soldier, Marine, pastor, etc.? Farmgirl, mom, writer or what?)
Oh goodness, we’re starting out with a hard question? 😉 Favorite girl character to write about—I’d have to say the dreamer/writer/coffee-drinker type. Someone I can relate to and write with (I hope) authenticity.
Guy characters, of any kind, are a writing area that I struggled with greatly in the beginning, and still do at times. But, that said, I really loved writing both my cowboy and my Marine.

2. What is your least favorite girl or guy character type to write? (Same as above but opposite.)
For either girls or guys, I dislike writing someone who works in a career that I know nothing about but, for story reasons, can’t be changed or altered. Because researching something you don’t even want to learn about? *major thumbs down*

3. What is your favorite season to write about? (Summer, Winter, Spring, or Fall…)
Ooooh, good one! There’s something in each season that makes it enjoyable to me and interesting to write about. I think I’d have to say my favorite is summer, though. Barefoot summer days, dazzled in sunshine, brimming with ice cream and sunburn and windblown hair. ❤

4. What are you most looking forward to this summer?
I’m super excited for a missions week I’m participating in next week. It’s something my church has did for the past few years, and I always enjoy it. I’m also looking forward to doing lots of prep for my September book release in the coming weeks and months.

5. Do you write more or less in summer?
Probably less. Although, while I was still in school, I had more free time during the summer months, there is so much more going on, so much to do in the summer. So, it’s usually during the cold winter months, that I write the most.

6. What is your advice for new writers?
Don’t give up. Maybe what you’re writing isn’t that good, maybe you don’t write as quickly as you’d like, maybe you have plot holes and bunny trails galore. But you. are. writing. Stick with it, learn all you can, accept constructive criticism, and don’t ever give up. 🙂

7. What is something that shocked you in your writing journey that you never expected to happen?
Being asked to sign books. I know, I know. It’s such a common thing. But, even now, when someone asks me to sign a book, I almost want to ask if they’re sure. Like…it’s so new and pretty and clean. Why would you want little ol’ me to write in it and mess it up!? Or when people want to buy signed copies directly from me instead of from an online retailer…wowzers.

8. What is one thing you would change if you could?
I don’t have any regrets about my writing journey and the path it’s taken me on. But if I had it to do over again, I would learn more about the craft, marketing, and the pros and cons of different indie publishing platform before jumping in headfirst. Knowledge is key, and I still have so much to learn.

All righty, I guess this closes off the week of Faith’s Author Tour! How have you liked it? Be sure and check out the other posts:

And remember the GIVEAWAY doesn’t end until the 29th!!!

Oh, I may take a hiatus . . . So, if you contact me at all the rest of the week I’m not ignoring you just resting and taking a break from the craziness of my blogging schedule.
