Summer Suspense: If I Run

If I Run (If I Run Series Book 1) by [Blackstock, Terri]

Now a USA TODAY bestseller!

Casey knows the truth. But it won’t set her free.

Casey Cox’s DNA is all over the crime scene. There’s no use talking to police; they’ve failed her abysmally before. She has to flee before she’s arrested . . . or worse. The truth doesn’t matter anymore.

But what is the truthThat’s the question haunting Dylan Roberts, the war-weary veteran hired to find Casey. PTSD has marked him damaged goods, but bringing Casey back can redeem him. Though the crime scene seems to tell the whole story, details of the murder aren’t adding up.

Casey Cox doesn’t fit the profile of a killer. But are Dylan’s skewed perceptions keeping him from being objective? If she isn’t guilty, why did she run?

Unraveling her past and the evidence that condemns her will take more time than he has, but as Dylan’s damaged soul intersects with hers, he is faced with two choices: the girl who occupies his every thought is a psychopathic killer . . . or a selfless hero. And the truth could be the most deadly weapon yet.

My Review:

Genre: Suspense, and romance.

My Rating: 4 and 1/2 stars.

Recommendation: 16 to 18 up for readers who have triggers.

My favorite character is: Casey is not your normal heroine! Her story starts off with a killer opening scene. No pun intended . . . I promise! Her inner dialogue is top notch and interesting, following along with her was so intense and enjoyable. I loved getting to read about how she does what she does.

My Verse for Casey is James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (King James Version.)

My thoughts: This was a wowing start to a series. I had several people suggest I read this series and I did months later when my e-library had the WHOLE series in ONE ebook, at the time when I read this series I had a terrible stomach bug that made me do literally nothing for two days except read, read, read and read. And so I did! I read the whole series of If I Run. This first book was so good! The side plot was so intriguingly woven in throughout the main plot.

I do have to admit that this book is also filled with a lot of imperfect characters that live very imperfect lives so some readers may not want to read this series and there were a few places that made me cringe and skim a bit.

Warnings: Mentions of . . . murder, suicide, kidnapping, abuse . . . and even porn though not by any main character and it is only mentioned that the character sees what a man is doing and that it is sinful . . . I suggest that more mature readers such as parents or trusted friends read this before anyone under 16 maybe even 17.
