Book Review of The Words Between Us by Erin Bartels

The Words Between Us

About: A reclusive bookstore owner hoped she’d permanently buried her family’s sensational past with a new name. But when the novels she once shared with an old crush begin appearing in the mail, it’s clear her true identity is about to be revealed, threatening the new life she has painstakingly built.

Review of The Words Between Us: Weird. While I liked this book it ended weirdly, too fast, and there was no real conclusion. Until the end though it was a nice story filled with sadness, brokenness, hurt, and lies, that leads to breaking and hope. There was little Christian content which was disappointing, and there was a divorced man that remarried, three side characters that cheated on their spouses, the main character witnessed some violence, and talk of murder. The bookstore side of the story was really cute and I loved everything about it, and Dawt Pi was such a sweet character. And the poetry was a wonderful touch.

Rating: 2 and 1/2 stars rounded up to 3.

Recommendation: 16/19 up for content.

Verse: John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (King James Version.)

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my honest review – all the thoughts are my own.
