Guest PosT From Angela:

The Hardest Part of Writing The Infidel Books

Angela R. Watts

The Infidel Books have been releasing since 2019. The Divided Nation came out at a wild time of my life. I wrote and published the novel living in an RV. We sold our house and moved. We built a house and a tiny home. By The Grim Alliance, we had moved into the house we built. While I publish The Mercenary’s Deception, we are building a garage and another house. These big life changes exclude many others, such as farm life insanity, personal life insanity, and much more.

In 2019, I thought I was crazy.

“This series is far out,” I told myself. “It’s too crazy. Nobody will think this is believable.”

At the Prepping Expo 2021, as people picked up The Divided Nation at my first ever vendor table… Person after person said, “Wow, this is actually going on, we’re almost to this point!”

It was sobering. It has been surreal to write a series that I once thought was too “unrealistic” play out before my eyes.

The hardest part about writing this series has been ignoring the voices in my head.

“This is too much.”

“This is unrealistic.”

“Nobody will read this.”

They’re hard to fight sometimes.

But you know what?

They have each been wrong.

Every voice from the enemy is wrong.

This series is gritty and fast-paced and thrilling and dark. It shines hope through hell. It encourages people to heal no matter what they’ve done or seen or faced.

And it has a purpose.

The hard part has been focusing on God’s voice above the ruckus. But it is always worth it. When I write with my focus on the Lord, it works. It flows. It pieces together like a grand puzzle. I know God has a purpose if we are willing to follow Him.

So choose His purpose. Ignore the voices. And keep going.

What may seem crazy probably isn’t.

Keep going.
