Maybe the better question would be why not read Romantic Suspense? Sure, you can read heavy war novels, self-helps, memoirs, historical non-fiction, tear-jerkers, and tragedies. And you should… on occasion. But don’t you sometimes want your heart to race for something other than, COVID, bills, politics, work, drama, and your family stress? Don’t you want it to beat for someone else’s story? For the danger on the page instead of the kind always lurking around you in real life? Yes, those other genres teach us valuable lessons and shape the way we think. And what brain doesn’t need a steady diet of protein and veggies? Every now and then though, my brain just needs a doughnut. I want the fried dough of danger, glazed with attraction, and sprinkled with fun. I want car chases, stolen kisses, secret identities, and evil plots. I want it all in a hardback opened on my lap or pulled up on my kindle while I lounge in a comfy chair with a throw blanket and a latte. And what’s stopping me? What’s stopping you?
